IPOH: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) Perak is demanding that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and the relevant State Executive Council (Exco) provide a clear explanation regarding the inhumane treatment of stray dogs in Lahat, which recently went viral.
A video had surfaced online clearly showing uniformed workers carrying out a mass burial of dead dogs.

According to reports, there were also recordings of live dogs still in cages being dumped like garbage into the burial pit.
“MUDA Perak strongly condemns the inhumane actions taken by MBI against the stray dogs at the Lahat pound recently.
“NGOs and volunteers claim that the dogs they were trying to rescue were seen in the footage, despite being previously informed that the dogs had been sent to a landfill site in Papan.
“MBI’s actions are cruel, unethical, and a clear violation of animal welfare principles. Stray dogs should be treated humanely through TNRM (Trap–Neuter–Release–Manage) programs, not killed or buried alive,” said the statement here today.
MUDA is also demanding that MBI issue a public explanation on the procedures and decisions regarding the treatment of these dogs.
“We also call on Exco Sandrea Ng and Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming to explain and take responsibility for this matter,” the statement added.
MUDA Perak urges the public and NGOs to speak out against cruelty towards stray animals, while also pushing for the creation of public watchdog groups and advocating for reform in stray animal management.
“Only through collective commitment can we build a more compassionate and humane society,” it said.
