IPOH, Sept 10 — The 6th Lantern Making Contest will once again light up the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations at Ipoh Parade, with the champion set to take home a RM500 cash prize.


Carrying the theme “Moonlight Celebration • Mid-Autumn Together”, the contest is organised by Ipoh Parade in collaboration with 19 Lions Clubs to preserve Chinese cultural heritage while promoting creativity and community spirit.
“Through this contest, we want to encourage the community to continue appreciating cultural traditions while also nurturing creativity through the use of recyclable materials,” said Organising Chairman, Mr Hew Ayean.
The winner will receive RM500 along with a trophy and certificate, while the second and third place winners will take home RM300 and RM200 respectively. Ten consolation prizes worth RM100 each will also be awarded.
Lanterns created by participants will be displayed at Ipoh Parade until September 20, 2025, at 9pm.


The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for September 20, 2025 (Saturday), at 8.30pm at Ipoh Parade’s Main Court, and will be preceded by a special Lantern Parade featuring an LED Lion Dance performance.
Participants are required to prepare their lanterns at home before submitting them at the Ipoh Parade registration counter between September 18 and 20, 2025.
Lanterns must not exceed the dimensions of 75cm x 75cm x 75cm and should be portable.
Entries will be judged based on adherence to theme (20%), creativity (35%), durability (15%) and aesthetic appeal (30%).
