IPOH — The development outlook for industrial parks in Perak is expected to remain positive over the next two years, in line with the national investment policy that emphasises high-value-added, advanced technology, and sustainable industries.

State executive councillor for Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development, Loh Sze Yee, said several strategic projects are currently underway, including the Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP) in Kerian, the Silver Valley Technology Park (SVTP) in Chemor, the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) in Manjung, and the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjung Malim.

“At least three to four major industrial parks are expected to complete their basic infrastructure by 2026, enabling investors to begin early operations. This sends a clear signal that Perak is ready to offer competitive and well-structured industrial sites,” he said when replying to an oral question during the Second Meeting of the Third Year of the 15th Perak State Assembly here today.

According to Loh, these projects are expected to have a significant impact on the state’s economy, particularly in generating thousands of new jobs. The AHTV project alone is projected to create thousands of positions in engineering, technical, and support services, while KIGIP is expected to generate between 10,000 and 15,000 new jobs in the green sector.

“SVTP and LuMIC also have the potential to generate up to 50,000 jobs once fully developed, in addition to opening opportunities for SMEs, local contractors, and logistics providers to benefit from the wider economic spillover,” he added.

The state government is confident that the momentum of high-impact investments will continue with the support of the federal government, further strengthening Perak’s aspiration to become a competitive, sustainable, and inclusive investment hub by 2030.
