IPOH — In a stunning victory, Kolej Komuniti Jerantut clinched the SmartGreen PolyCC Sustainability Award 2025 – Overall Sustainability Excellence during the PolyCC Sustainability Awards 2025 held last night at Casuarina@Meru Hotel.

The accolade, presented by Dato’ Dr Haji Mohd Zahari Ismail, Director General of the Department of Polytechnic & Community College Education (JPPKK), not only recognised institutional, project and individual achievements in sustainability, but also served as a catalyst for promoting balanced green TVET development across economic, social and environmental domains.
“This recognition will continuously inspire all institutions to enhance green practices, boost energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprints and strengthen the role of polytechnics and community colleges in realising the National Sustainable Agenda 2030,” he said during his closing remarks.
He added that the award underscores JPPKK’s strong commitment to sustainability and bolsters the status of TVET institutions in the national higher education landscape.

This year’s event, hosted by Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO), featured participation from 36 polytechnics and 106 community colleges nationwide.
Meanwhile, the PUO director, Dr Hajah Salmi Che Meh, remarked that the SmartGreen sustainability initiatives have been deeply embedded through institutional policies, guidelines, and recognition programs.
She described the awards gathering as encapsulating the nation’s resolve to foster TVET campuses that act responsibly toward the environment and sustain future generations.

The Best Green Paper Award was claimed by Dr Tengku Azman Tengku Mohd of Politeknik Ungku Omar for his research titled “White-Box Modelling And Performance Simulation Of BEV Dynamics Using MATLAB Simulink For Sustainable Mobility Applications.”
The event also saw the presentation of SmartGreen PolyCC Awards in seven focus areas and certificates of appreciation for the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024.
Now in its sixth edition, the prestigious PolyCC Sustainability Awards reflect the ambitions outlined in the Blueprint SmartGreen Polytechnic Community College (BSGPC) 2021–2026 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), underscoring the drive toward a greener, more sustainable future in technical and vocational education in Malaysia.
