IPOH: Ceramic art is one of Perak’s heritage crafts with a long and rich history.
As an effort to preserve and promote this heritage, the Perak Ceramic Arts Festival 2025: Exhibition, Workshop, and Dialogue (PSSP2025) is set to become a significant milestone in the state’s cultural and tourism development.

Running from 9 to 12 October at Artworks Hotel, the festival is co-organized by the Perak Ceramic Arts Association (PERSERA) and Artworks Hotel.
It is also supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), Tourism Perak, UiTM Sri Iskandar, and several other agencies such as PORT, Kraftangan Malaysia, and the Department of Minerals and Geoscience.
President of PERSERA, Mohd Shukri Hashim, said the festival aims to foster public awareness and appreciation of ceramic art and the cultural heritage of Perak.
He added that it also seeks to enhance the skills of local ceramic artists, strengthen the ceramic-based creative industry, and position Perak as a nationally and internationally recognized ceramic hub.
“We are targeting an attendance of 5,000 visitors from various backgrounds for this inaugural festival.
“One of the main objectives is to showcase at least 50 ceramic artworks by local artists.
“Additionally, the festival aims to support local economic growth through high-impact cultural tourism,” he said at the Perak Ceramic Arts Festival 2025 press conference held at Artworks Hotel.
A variety of events and activities will be held, including ceramic-making demonstrations, art exhibitions, and traditional heritage art showcases such as Perak mat weaving.
The festival will also feature five ceramic-making technique workshops for different skill levels, three dialogue sessions with ceramic experts, curators, and heritage researchers, as well as the production of comprehensive documentation on Perak’s ceramic art.
International collaboration with institutions from countries like Indonesia and China will further strengthen Malaysia’s position in cultural diplomacy, while opening new market opportunities for the local ceramic industry.
The closing ceremony is expected to be officiated by the Chief Minister of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
