CAMERON HIGHLANDS: Over 200 residents participated in the PCSH Community Day organized by the Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) at SJK (C) Brinchang here recently.
The program, held in collaboration with the Lions Club of Hillview Cameron Highlands and Regional Environmental Awareness Cameron Highlands (REACH), aimed to promote public health awareness and provide accessible healthcare services to the local community.


PCSH, through statement said this outreach effort aligns with PCSH’s mission to deliver affordable, quality healthcare for all.
“Through community programmes like this, the hospital seeks to raise awareness about preventive health measures, encourage early detection of illnesses and promote healthier lifestyle practices among the public,”.
According to the statement, participants benefited from a comprehensive range of free health screenings.
“It includes blood pressure checks, body mass index (BMI) measurement, random blood sugar and cholesterol tests, eye and hearing screenings, hand grip strength tests, Smart Pulse analysis.
“Other than that, foot arch analysis, AI skin analysis, 12-meridian tests,hepatitis B and C screenings, smoke-lyzer tests and clinical breast examinations,” it said.


Additionally, participants also received medical and dietitian consultations.
The event was officiated by the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Cameron Highlands, Ho Chi Yang, together with PCSH Board of Director, Tham Chee Phing.
Also present were the President of the Lions Club of Hillview Cameron Highlands, Chin Wai Sam, and a representative from REACH, Kalaiarasi.
Ho Chi Yang commended PCSH and its partners for their commitment to public health.
“Initiatives like this are vital in educating the local community about healthcare, healthy lifestyles and the importance of early disease detection because early detection saves lives,” he said.
He also highlighted PCSH’s Welfare Fund, which ensures that underprivileged groups are not left behind in receiving medical care.
“Since its inception in 2019, the fund has benefited around 550 patients from the B40 group and I am glad to hear that this initiative will soon be extended to the M40 group as well,” he added.


Meanwhile, Chee Phing stated that PCSH’s mission is to provide affordable, quality healthcare.
“In recent years, we have undergone a phase of transformation and expansion to become a modern multidisciplinary hospital — a preferred tertiary centre in Ipoh, Perak as a whole and now in Cameron Highlands,” he said.
