MICCI Post-Budget Dialogue Session 2026

Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Perak Branch held the MICCI Post-Budget Dialogue Session 2026 earlier today at the Mamut Room at 1Lasam. The session saw an attendance of around 50 participants, many of whom were prominent members from various industries.

Following the welcoming remarks by the immediate past chairman of MICCI Perak and Vice President of MICCI, Dato’ Lim Si Boon; the guests of honour, who were Deputy Undersecretary, Ministry of Finance (MOF), Budget Team Leader, YBrs Puan Afidah Azwa Abdul Aziz, and Section Head, Tax Division (Direct Tax Section), Mr. Ezleezan bin Othman, gave their respective presentations, where they spoke concisely about the different facets of the 2026 budget, from various budgetary allocations to the government’s planned trajectory.

Puan Afidah also spoke on various programmes available, which the public can check by visiting the MOF portal (https://www.mof.gov.my/portal/en/) to see if they qualify for any schemes or initiatives.

Following their talk, the floor was open for what was a constructive questions and answers (Q&A) session, as the participants were able to engage in good faith with the team from the MOF with questions regarding real world challenges they were facing in their respective industries, such as how to remain compliant to government guidelines when third party auditors might interpret those guidelines differently. The issue of Rent to Own (RtO) and how a developer would have to categorize a property that’s been “sold” in RtO and the accompanying taxes. As well as questions on various tax incentives.

The session ended in a networking opportunity for the participants.
