IPOH – Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), in collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI), officially launched the Pasir Puteh Temporary Market and Taman Rekreasi Madani (TRM) @ Boon Bak, officiated by KPKT Minister Nga Kor Ming.

Ipoh Mayor Tuan Zamakshari Hanipah said MBI remains committed to ensuring smooth urban development to realise Ipoh’s vision as a Smart and Sustainable City.

“The Pasir Puteh Public Market fire on February 13, 2024, destroyed 90 per cent of the structure, affecting 86 traders and the local economy. To safeguard business continuity, MBI and KPKT built the Pasir Puteh Temporary Market, costing RM1.425 million, constructed over nine months from October 2024 and completed in July 2025,” he said.

Also present at the launch were Perak DUN Deputy Speaker Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, Ipoh Timor MP Howard Lee, and Pasir Pinji ADUN Goh See Hua.

He added that RM1 million of the funding came from KPKT, while RM425,000 was provided by MBI. The market features a 30m x 35m marquee tent, designated trading spaces, toilets, parking, drainage systems, lighting, and electrical facilities to ensure comfort for traders and visitors.

“These facilities benefit over 26,000 residents of Mukim Ipoh and Ulu Kinta, as well as nearly 711,000 residents of Ipoh city, helping revive the trading spirit of the Pasir Puteh community,” he said.
