Malaysia Fall 9–1 to World-Class Belgium, Eyes Stay Firmly on Bronze Match Redemption

Ipoh 27 November 2025 — Malaysia endured a difficult night at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup as they suffered a heavy 9–1 defeat to world No. 3 Belgium, but despite the setback, the Speedy Tigers remain determined with a bronze-medal match still ahead of them.

Belgium demonstrated their history, proficient passing, disciplined pressing, and elite decision-making from the first whistle. The task for Malaysia was straightforward: maintain compactness, withstand pressure, and search for opportunities to advance.However, the Red Lions capitalized on almost every defensive slip-up, taking a commanding early lead that solidified the momentum in their favor.

However, Malaysia displayed spirit, moments of resiliency, and glimmers of attacking promise even in a difficult match. Despite constant pressure, the Tigers persisted in pushing forward and attempting to create opportunities. Their lone goal was the result of one of their best attacking phases of play, which included fast movement, precise running lines, and a finish that delighted the home crowd.

With drums, applause, and unwavering support, the Malaysian supporters inside Azlan Shah Stadium remained devoted to the team throughout every minute. Even as the score increased, the Tigers were able to keep up their fight thanks to that energy.
