By: Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

IPOH: WEIL Hotel kicked off the Christmas season with a spectacular tree lighting ceremony, unveiling a 15ft Christmas tree adorned with unique decorations made from recycled bed sheets at its lobby.

The Aurora Winter Wonderland theme inspired the decorations, which were crafted by the hotel’s Housekeeping department.

The event not only brought joy to visitors but also showcased WEIL Hotel’s commitment to sustainability.

WEIL Hotel Managing Director, Liew Yu-Wei, said the effort reflected the hotel staff’s creativity and dedication to spreading Christmas cheer.

This year’s celebration marks a significant milestone for WEIL Hotel, which achieved two historic feats in November.

The hotel became the first in Malaysia to receive the ESG Certification for Hotels & Resorts Programme and the LEED O+M Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Liew was also named one of Asia’s Most Admirable Young Leaders 2025 by ACES Awards.

The tree lighting ceremony also benefited children and families from Ray of Hope and Pusat Jagaan Praise Ipoh.

Performances by Kingdomcity Ipoh’s choir and a flash mob rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by hotel staff added to the festive atmosphere.

To mark the occasion, WEIL Hotel is offering various promotions and activities, including 50% off food at all restaurants on Dec 7.

Here’s the translation in The Star format:

The five-star hotel is also introducing its Jingle Fusion Christmas Buffet Dinner, featuring an array of festive delights priced at RM168 for adults, RM158 for seniors and RM98 for children.

Guests can also participate in the Count & Win contest by guessing the number of handmade petals on the Christmas tree.

Advance bookings can be made through WEIL Horizon until December 14.
