IPOH – Ipoh City Council (MBI) does not expect media coverage that merely praises the authority, but instead calls for balanced, accurate and fact-based reporting in the interest of the public.

Ipoh Mayor Tuan Zamakhshari Hanipah said such an approach is crucial to ensure the public gains a clear and fair understanding of issues and developments in Ipoh, without being influenced by misleading or politicised reports.
“Accurate and factual reporting is more appropriate so that the public is not easily misled by parties who take advantage of issues for political gain,” he said.

He was speaking at the Ipoh City Council Media Night 2025, which was attended by more than 70 media practitioners from various news agencies.
In line with digital developments, Zamakhshari said MBI has strengthened its communication channels by introducing MBI Online TV as a visual platform to disseminate information to city residents.
To further enhance integrated and faster information delivery, Radio MBI and MBI Online TV have been unified under a new brand, Radio TV Bandar Raya Ipoh (RTBI).

The rebranding is supported by the launch of the Radio TV Bandar Raya Ipoh portal and the Radio MBI mobile application, which he described as a strategic move to strengthen digital communication and ensure information reaches the public more effectively and in a user-friendly manner.
The RTBI portal can be accessed at radiotv.mbi.gov.my, while the Radio MBI application is available for download on the Play Store.

Zamakhshari also expressed appreciation to local media for their continued coverage of city-related issues and development, stressing that the media remains a strategic partner of MBI in delivering transparent and responsible information to the public.
