Nearly 30 Cattle Roam Free, Cow Droppings Scattered in Surau Compound

By: Aida Aziz

BATU GAJAH: Not only were they left to roam freely on the streets, a herd of owned cattle recently wandered into the compound of Surau At-Taqwa in Taman Pusing Utusan here.

The animals left droppings all over the surau’s grounds, with no sense of responsibility from their owners.

According to a complainant, this issue has long plagued the Taman Pusing Utusan neighbourhood.

“We have been dealing with the problem of cattle roaming the streets for years. On one occasion, there were about 20 to 30 cows at once.

“On two separate occasions, these cows even jumped into people’s compounds, destroying fences and damaging plants.

“We have informed the cattle owners, but no action or compensation has been provided. Complaints to the Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) and other relevant departments have also gone unanswered.

“Recently, the incident of cow droppings scattered across the surau compound caused quite an uproar. We are at a loss as to whom we should report to have this issue resolved and to take action against the cattle owners,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

He added that the surau was built using funds collected from local residents and is used for various community activities.

“We urge the authorities to step in and help address this problem in our area. This is not a one-off issue; it has been happening for years,” he said.
