IPOH: The heritage tourism town of Taiping has welcomed a new chief administrator with the appointment of Mohamed Akmal Dahalan as the President of the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT).
The appointment takes effect from 9 January 2026.
Mohamed Akmal takes over the post of MPT President from the previous officeholder, Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir, who has retired.

Khairul Amir served as President of MPT for five years since 2020.
Previously, Mohamed Akmal served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Perak State Housing and Property Board from May 2022, with an excellent leadership track record.
With more than 23 years of experience in public administration, it is hoped that he will be able to add value to the MPT organisation.
This is particularly in strengthening governance, improving service efficiency, and driving more sustainable urban development.
Earlier, he received his letter of appointment from the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, at the Perak State Secretariat (SUK) Building here.
