IPOH – Residents of Taman Halaman Pengkalan Sentosa have expressed frustration after complaints regarding dangerous overgrown tree branches along the estate’s main road were allegedly ignored by the local authority.

Recently, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic received a complaint from a residents’ representative, claiming that the landscape trees lining the main road had not been properly maintained, causing branches to grow excessively and lean into the roadway, thereby disrupting daily traffic flow.

According to a resident, Mohamad Sazali Saidin, 45, he has lodged five official complaints through the Ipoh City Council (MBI) website, including submissions to a councillor, but no action has been taken to date.
“We have long informed the authorities that the landscape trees need pruning and maintenance, but until now, no action has been taken. The branches have grown too large and are now leaning towards the main road,” he said.

He added that the dense overgrowth not only obstructs visibility but also that decaying branches and twigs frequently fall to the ground, posing a danger to pedestrians and road users.
“Many rotten branches have fallen. Some trees have grown so large that they are pressing against residents’ fences and house structures,” he explained.

Mohamad Sazali further noted that several trees are leaning towards the road, increasing the risk of accidents, particularly during strong winds or heavy rain.
“The situation has also obstructed school bus routes and heavy vehicles accessing the main road, in addition to blocking pedestrian walkways used daily by residents.
“We urge MBI to take immediate action to prune the low-hanging and overgrown branches as they are already disrupting school buses and heavy vehicles,” he said.

Residents hope that the local authority will not take public safety lightly and will act promptly to prevent any untoward incidents.
