Cultural Festival Brightens Chinese New Year Celebrations in Ipoh

Ipoh — The Chinese New Year Cultural Festival 2026 kicked off last night with a host of exciting activities at Kinta Riverfront @ Old Town here.

The festival’s opening ceremony was officiated by the Chairman of the Perak State Committee for Industry, Investment, Tourism and Corridor Development, Loh Sze Yee.

Organised by the Perak State Government through Tourism Perak Management Berhad in collaboration with various agencies, the festival will run from 12 to 15 February and 18 to 22 February 2026, daily from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the festival, including the Chinese New Year Bazaar, lion and dragon dance performances, the “24 Festive Drum”, Chinese orchestra, cultural performances, fire shows, and fashion displays.

Also featured are the “Symphony of Spring” performance, live band shows, and the Wira & Manja Meet and Greet session, enlivening celebrations in the city centre.

The festival not only brings the festive spirit to the city but also serves as one of the state’s key tourism programmes to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

It also aims to encourage both domestic and international tourists to visit Perak.
