Ipoh — The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has announced that all road excavation works within its jurisdiction will be temporarily suspended to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the Chinese New Year 2026 celebrations.
According to the statement, the temporary suspension applies to all excavation works that have been issued permits and will take effect from 14 February (Saturday) to 22 February (Sunday) 2026.


MBI emphasised that the measure is aimed at preventing traffic disruption, reducing accident risks, and ensuring that the city environment remains safe and orderly throughout the festive period.
However, in the event of emergency works, the relevant parties are advised to contact the Development Division, Public Works Department, Ipoh City Council at 05-208 3469.


MBI also urged all parties involved to ensure that work sites are kept clean, tidy, and well-organised before the suspension period begins.
The move is expected to provide greater convenience for road users in Ipoh during the festive celebrations.
