Lion dance, Chinese drums enliven Chinese New Year celebration at Lorong Seni

IPOH: Lion dance and Chinese drum performances took centre stage at the Chinese New Year 2026 celebration held at Lorong Seni@Lorong Panglima here today.
The programme, organised by Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI), was officiated by MBI councillor Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin and attended by council members, department heads and MBI officers.
The event aimed to introduce the city’s residents to Malaysia’s multicultural traditions while strengthening unity and community harmony.


Activities included lion dance and Chinese drum performances in collaboration with Macha & Seni Market, a Gema Warisan Budaya MBI performance, an exhibition by former Bridge Club Ipoh members and handicraft sales by local artisans.
MBI hopes the programme will enhance public understanding of Chinese cultural traditions while fostering closer ties among the local community.
