RM9 kidney screening for senior citizens

By: Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

IPOH: The public, especially senior citizens, will have the opportunity to undergo a basic kidney screening for as low as RM9 in conjunction with World Kidney Day at Hospital Seri Botani.

The health awareness programme will take place on March 14, 2026 (Saturday) from 8.30am to 12 noon at the hospital.

Under the initiative, a basic kidney screening for senior citizens aged 55 and above will be offered at a promotional rate of RM9 for the first 50 participants, with pre-registration required.

Members of the public may also take advantage of the Kidney Plus Screening, which will be available at a special rate of RM118 exclusively on the day of the event.

The programme will also feature a health talk by consultant nephrologist Dr Chen Kah Khin on chronic kidney disease.

The talk is scheduled to take place from 10am to 11am at the hospital’s Outpatient Clinic.

Visitors will also be able to seek advice from a dietitian, obtain information on dialysis treatment and learn about available community support through several booths set up during the event.

The organisers said early screening is crucial as many kidney problems often develop “silently” without obvious symptoms.

Members of the public are encouraged to bring along family members, especially their parents, to undergo health checks to detect potential issues at an early stage.

For enquiries, the public may contact Christina (011-3142 9403) or Queenie (016-547 5386).
