Sunway’s largest mall project in Perak reaches 40% completion

By Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

IPOH: The Sunway Property mall development near Lost World of Tambun is on track for completion by the end of 2027, with construction progress currently at about 40 per cent, according to its senior manager of project management, Lau Jia Jian.

Lau said the mall, which is set to be the largest in Perak, carries a total development cost of more than US$222.3 million (RM1 billion).

He said the project will offer more than one million square feet of net lettable area (NLA) across four retail floors and is designed to blend with Tambun’s natural landscape.

More than 2,800 parking bays will also be provided.

Among the confirmed attractions at the mall are the state’s first ice skating rink, an exhibition centre, a 36-lane bowling centre, a multipurpose sports facility, a gourmet garden, and an eight-hall cinema with a seating capacity of about 1,500.

“Details about other retail outlets will be announced at a later stage once the project reaches a more advanced phase of construction,” he said.

Lau said the management was withholding details on retail partners for now as construction was still ongoing, with more announcements expected towards the end of the year.

He added that the development would form part of a broader integrated ecosystem linking the mall to Lost World of Tambun, Sunway Medical Centre, and a planned hotel above the mall.

There will also be direct connectivity to surrounding developments, including a link to Lost World of Tambun and Sunway Medical Centre upon completion.

“We are finalising several aspects of the project to ensure the overall ecosystem works well together, including visitor flow and parking capacity,” he said, adding that further details on the mall’s structure, tenants, and concept would be revealed during a dedicated event once plans are fully finalised.

Also present at the breaking-of-fast event at Sunway Hotel Lost World of Tambun were Sunway Theme Parks senior general manager Nurul Nuzairi and other guests.
