TRONOH: A food box distribution programme for the local community was held at Surau Al-Ittifaqiyyah in Taman Bemban Raya here with the intention of sharing sustenance.

The brief programme aimed to reach out to the local community while helping to ease the burden of those in need during the month of Ramadan.

According to Tronoh assemblyman Steven Tiw Tee Siang, through the initiative, food boxes were distributed to selected recipients identified earlier.

He said the programme also served as an effort to strengthen ties and foster a spirit of togetherness among members of the local community.

“After the food box distribution session, the programme continued with a visit to the Taman Bemban Raya Ramadan Bazaar together with friends from the Kampung Bemban Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK).

“During the visit, a total of 18 bazaar stalls were patronised to purchase various dishes for breaking fast as a sign of support for local small traders who are working hard to earn a living throughout Ramadan,” he said.

Interestingly, some traders also sincerely offered food free of charge.

However, the offer was politely declined, and payment was still made as a gesture of appreciation for the traders’ efforts and hard work in earning a living during the month of Ramadan.

More meaningfully, the food and drinks purchased at the bazaar were also shared with local children, adding cheer to the late afternoon atmosphere as the time for breaking fast approached.
