Road upgrading works at Lorong Pertama 11, Jelapang resume

IPOH: Road upgrading works and the installation of new LED streetlight poles at Lorong Pertama 11, Pusat Komersil Taman Pertama in Jelapang resumed yesterday.

The works had been postponed for nearly four weeks.

The delay was made following appeals from hawkers and traders in the area.

They were concerned that the construction works would affect their businesses ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Previously, the contractor had agreed to temporarily postpone the works to allow traders to continue operating their businesses.

The upgrading project involves resurfacing the road, installing new LED streetlight poles and several related works.

This is aimed at improving facilities and safety for users in the commercial area.

Residents and local traders hope the project can be completed according to schedule to ensure the area becomes safer, especially at night.

Earlier, a site visit to review the works was carried out by Jelapang State Assemblyman Cheah Pou Hian.

He said the installation of LED streetlights is a positive step that will not only improve lighting levels, but also save energy and provide greater comfort for the public passing through the area.
