TAIPING: A total of 22 individuals were sworn in to carry out their responsibilities following their appointment as councillors of the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT).
MPT president Mohamed Akmal Dahalan led the ceremony as he took the oath of office.

The appointments are effective from March 16, 2026, to March 15, 2028.
The session was officiated by Perak State Executive Councillor for Housing and Local Government, Sandrea Ng Shy Ching.
In her speech, Sandrea stressed that councillors play a crucial role within the hierarchy of a Local Authority (PBT).

She said councillors also serve as drivers of development policies at both the national and state levels.
“The excellent contributions and commitment of councillors are vital, as they not only reflect the image of the local authority, but also the overall image of the State Government,” she said.
MPT extended its congratulations to all appointed councillors and expressed hope that they will continue to uphold the trust given to them for the well-being of the people and the progress of Taiping town.
