KAMPAR: A 19-year-old woman was seriously injured after she was involved in a six-vehicle accident at Kilometre 4 of Jalan Kuala Dipang–Malim Nawar, near SK Tualang Sekah, on March 31.
The victim sustained fractures to her left rib and right pelvic bone, along with injuries to her head, neck and legs. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was triggered by a vehicle that was allegedly driven recklessly before veering into the opposite lane.
The incident has raised concern among residents as the location is a school zone that often experiences heavy traffic during peak hours.

Tualang Sekah assemblyman YB Mohd Azlan Helmi said he views the matter seriously and immediately visited the site to assess traffic conditions and potential risk factors that may have contributed to the accident.
He said the site inspection served as an important basis for developing more comprehensive safety improvements.

Following this, a coordination meeting was held with the Public Works Department (JKR), the Kampar District Police Chief and the Kampar District and Land Office (PDT) to discuss immediate measures.
“Among the key proposals from the discussion is the installation of a road divider spanning approximately 100 metres to prevent vehicles from crossing into the opposite lane,” he said.
He also proposed the creation of a designated drop-off zone on a 0.2-acre plot of state land next to the school to ease traffic flow and provide a safer space for parents to drop off and pick up their children.

Mohd Azlan further urged PDT Kampar to expedite clearing works at an abandoned area nearby to allow the drop-off facility to be implemented soon.
“These proposals will be refined by JKR and PDT Kampar in terms of technical requirements, implementation and funding. Further updates are expected soon,” he said.
He expressed hope that the measures could be implemented promptly to ensure the safety of road users, especially schoolchildren and residents.
