Man Arrested for Smashing Car Window at Gerbang Malam

IPOH – The Ipoh District Police have received a report regarding a vandalism incident involving damage to a vehicle in the Gerbang Malam area.

The incident was reported to have occurred on April 21 at about 11.40pm, when a local man allegedly smashed the front passenger window of a Perodua Bezza using a stone.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding over payment for a vehicle polishing service that was not requested by the car owner.

A video recording of the incident also went viral on social media via the Facebook account “Iesya Toh”, drawing public attention.

Acting on information, police arrested a 43-year-old local man at about 1am on April 22.

Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said investigations revealed that the suspect has eight prior criminal records.

“The suspect has been remanded and will be charged at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court on April 24, 2026,” he said in a statement.

In this regard, the public is advised to remain cautious of individuals offering unsolicited services in public areas to avoid unwanted incidents.
