IPOH: Unapproved structures involving hawker stalls, roofed parking spaces and farms built on road reserves were finally demolished after the compliance period set by authorities expired.

The operation was carried out through the 2026 Phase 2 Operation to Demolish Unapproved Structures today, involving 70 personnel, including cooperation from the police.

Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI), in a statement, said the case had been granted an extension to comply with the notice, but the structures were still not demolished by the owners.

“Today’s operation involved unapproved structures used as car sheds and hawker stalls, as well as farms located on road reserves.

“The implementation of this operation is in line with the stipulated standard operating procedures, namely through the issuance of Demolition Notices under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133), with a 30-day compliance directive,” the statement said.

The demolition operation began at 9 am and concluded at around 11 am.
