IPOH: Ten go-karts and several pieces of electrical equipment stored on the fourth floor of the Yik Foong shopping complex here were destroyed in a fire earlier today.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 9.59am.
He said six firefighters from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene after reports of smoke coming from the fourth floor of the building.
“Upon arrival, we found smoke emanating from the fourth floor of the complex.
“The fire was successfully extinguished following the activation of the building’s sprinkler system during the incident,” he said.
He added that no injuries were reported.
“The incident commander conducted a size-up and instructed personnel to shut off the sprinkler flow switch, followed by monitoring operations around the scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished,” he said.
