IPOH: A total of 77 children participated in the Jom Belajar Berenang 2026 (Let’s Learn to Swim) programme organised by the Fire Safety Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

The two-day programme, held on June 13 and 14, took place at the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station.

The initiative aimed to expose participants to basic swimming skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Participants were also introduced to water safety practices and drowning prevention measures.

The programme was organised to raise public awareness, particularly among children, about the risks associated with water-based recreational activities.

It also helped build participants’ confidence while in the water.

Various learning activities and practical training sessions were conducted throughout the programme.

The event received an encouraging response, supported by the close cooperation of parents, instructors and personnel from the Perak Fire and Rescue Department.

Organisers expressed hope that similar programmes would continue in the future to nurture a generation that is more aware of water safety and equipped with life-saving skills.
