By: Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad has directed the state Land and Mines Office (PTG) to carry out an immediate investigation into allegations by residents that quarry activities in RPT Batu 10 Chepor, Chemor, are causing structural damage to houses.

He said the investigation is necessary to determine the actual cause of the claims, particularly allegations linking residential damage to quarry operations in the area.

“We will ask PTG to investigate to identify the actual cause regarding residents’ claims that house cracks are the result of quarry activities,” he said when commenting on the issue.

He was responding to complaints from residents who claimed they frequently heard blasting sounds and felt tremors believed to be caused by rock-breaking activities at the quarry.

Previously, residents alleged that the blasting noise and tremors had become increasingly frequent, raising concerns over the safety and structural integrity of their homes.

The issue had also gone viral on social media recently, prompting state authorities to conduct further investigations to ensure compliance with operating procedures at the quarry.
