The Association for Welfare, Community and Dialogue (ACID) who over the years have articulated the importance of holistically enhancing workers rights and welfare, welcomes and appreciates the officiating of PERKESO Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics Rehabilitation Centre by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.at Bandar Meru Raya recently.
We are also thankful to the MP of Ipoh Barat and former Human Resources Minister YB Kulasegaran who had a far reaching vision to develop such facilities and the role of succeeding Ministers who made it a reality.
His Royal Highness in his speech said the centre is not merely a modern healthcare facility but also reflects the nation’s shift in mindset towards strengthening rehabilitation services at a higher level without neglecting human values and compassion.“This centre should be seen as a symbol that the nation values every life, every worker and every family.
ACID fully agrees with the assertion of the Royal highness that human values and compassion should be integrated in treating workers who are disabled.
Enhancing human dignity should be the vision and mission of the centre .
In an authentic social security ecosystem, workers have a comprehensive, legally mandated system, designed to protect employees from financial destitution.
It provides safety nets for occupational injuries, long-term disability, unemployment, old-age retirement, and survivor benefits for dependents.
The rehabilitation centre meets this criteria in terms of tangible holistic human development in reviving disabled workers’ health and mind and leading them back to the workforce.
Therefore it is hoped that the PERKESO Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics Rehabilitation Centre would be a guiding example to the country of what it means to have tangible initiative to enhance worker’s health and dignity.
