

GOPENG – In conjunction with the 80th anniversary celebration of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), a Sports Carnival was successfully organised by the MIC Gopeng Branch, receiving an overwhelming response from the local community.
The programme, coordinated by Sri Murugan, attracted approximately 300 participants and visitors from around the Gopeng area.
The event also received support from MIC President, Tan Sri S. A. Vigneswaran, and MIC Vice-President, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.
MIC Gopeng Chairman, R. Magendran, expressed his gratitude to all parties who contributed to the success of the competition.


According to him, MIC remains committed to championing the rights and welfare of the Indian community in Malaysia.
He said the encouraging response demonstrated the community’s support for efforts aimed at empowering the Indian community through various social and community-based programmes.
Also present was MIC Gopeng Deputy Chairman, P. Ravendran.


Magendran also conveyed his appreciation to all sponsors, volunteers and organisations that provided support throughout the event.
Among those who received special recognition were SJK(T) Gopeng, SJK(T) Ladang Kota Bharu, KBBT Gopeng, Gopeng Juniors and Mr. Mugi.
He also acknowledged the active involvement of PKP Wanita Gopeng, which played an important role in ensuring the success of the carnival.
The programme was held in a lively atmosphere filled with unity and community spirit, marking eight decades of MIC’s establishment.
