On 20 June, Sunway College Ipoh held its 13th Graduation and Awards Ceremony at Sunway Lost World Hotel’s Malayana Hall.
Faculty, staff, special guests, and the family of the students, from not just parents and siblings, but from grandparents to guardians, all congregated to celebrate the achievement of the graduating students in not just hitting this milestone in their lives, but also the exemplary effort they put in and the results that followed.
This graduation ceremony did not just mark the students passing their courses, but also acknowledged their achievements through the presentation of awards, such as the Platinum Award in Diploma in Business Administration to Aaren Goh Toh Xuan, Diploma in Information Technology to Ho Een Joe and Diploma in Entrepreneurship to Sharni A/P Nagalingam, and of course, the valedictorian, Chow Jia Gin.
The lists of distinguished guests included *Professor Cheng Mien Wee* · Executive Director, Sunway International Schools, Chief Executive of Sunway College Ipoh, Dr. Wan Nor Haliza Wan Harun, the Principal of Sunway College Ipoh and guests from the Perak State Education Department, such as Encik Mohd Mokhtar bin Shaari, the Head of the Student Talent Development Unit, Perak State Education Department.
In her opening speech for the event, *Professor Cheng Mien Wee* expressed her thanks not only to the students for their efforts, but their families and also the faculty and staff at Sunway College Ipoh, as it is the combined cooperation of everyone involved, which resulted in the success of the graduates.
In a recorded message by Professor Dato’ Dr. Elizabeth Lee, the Sunway Education Group Chief Executive Officer, she thanked the graduates and advised them to stay curious and inquisitive, and also to stick to their values and not lose their sense of wonder.
Sunway College was established in 1987 by *Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah* and in 2003, Sunway College Ipoh was established by the Sunway Education Group (SEG) to extend their academic reach beyond the Klang Valley.
In line with that, the event was the perfect opportunity for the announcement of two new courses which will be offered by Sunway College Ipoh, as it continues to pave the way into the future.
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Business Studies in Collaboration With Sunway University, which is a holistic course that will ensure that graduates will be able to apply themselves for any job at a company.
The Diploma in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will ensure that graduates won’t be left behind in the coming age of AI.
Scholarships and other opportunities will allow students to partake in these courses at affordable rates, so that parents can secure the future of their children, through quality education.
