By KT Leong
The TOFM Energy Alliance Forum 2026, organised by TOTAL IFM Sdn. Bhd. (TOFM), was held on 25 June, at WEIL Hotel, Ipoh, bringing together over 120 industry leaders, government representatives and energy professionals to discuss practical energy solutions for today’s challenges.

A key focus of the forum was the importance of starting with energy audits to understand consumption patterns, followed by efficiency improvements and renewable energy adoption. Energy audits were highlighted as the foundation for achieving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Net Zero goals.
Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia shared key incentives supporting Malaysia’s energy transition, including the Energy Audit Conditional Grant of up to RM100,000 and the NUR@PETRA initiative for RM250 per Refrigeration Ton (RT) for chiller upgrades.

Industry speakers highlighted a range of solutions across sectors. ZEMS Sdn Bhd highlighted AI-driven energy management for smart optimisation. Dunham-Bush Industries Sdn Bhd presented smart Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, while Yingli Energy Development Co., Ltd shared the latest commercial and industrial solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies and long-term energy saving strategies. Delta Electronics Solutions (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd focused on power quality and efficiency integration. FORA Advisory Sdn Bhd shared sustainable facilities management strategies, and the Ministry of Health (MOH) presented insights on resilient healthcare facilities.

The forum reinforced a clear approach, to conserve energy first, improve efficiency next and adopt renewable energy such as solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for maximum impact. The event also provided strong networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities, supporting Malaysia’s ongoing energy transition journey.
