IPOH: A 74-year-old woman was rescued after becoming trapped in an upstairs bedroom when a two-storey terraced house caught fire in Taman Raja Izzudin, Menglembu, early today.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the woman was safely rescued and did not suffer any injuries.
He said the department received an emergency call at 12.09am, prompting the deployment of 13 firefighters from the Pasir Putih Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that a two-storey terraced house was on fire, with about 30 per cent of the living room destroyed.
“An elderly woman was found trapped in an upstairs bedroom but was uninjured.
“The incident commander carried out a size-up and instructed firefighters to begin extinguishing operations until the blaze was fully brought under control.
“The victim was safely brought downstairs and handed over to her family members who were at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
