IPOH: The overgrown plants along the road divider near the traffic lights at Jalan Kamaruddin Isa, Fair Park here, have drawn criticism from residents who want the area to be properly maintained and beautified.
The plants, which have spread across the divider, are more noticeable when vehicles stop at the red light, with residents claiming the unkempt landscaping affects the appearance of the city centre.

An Ipoh resident said the relevant authorities should monitor and maintain the landscaping area to ensure the city’s image remains well preserved.
“I hope the authorities will monitor this landscaping area at the road divider as it is unpleasant to look at.
“If the plants are no longer suitable, perhaps the area should be refurbished or trimmed to make it neater,” the resident said.
Another Ipoh resident shared the same view and questioned whether the plants were intentionally planted as part of the landscaping or had grown naturally, saying they were unsuitable as decoration for a city area.
The resident said proper maintenance of urban landscaping should be given attention, as it reflects the image and identity of a city.
