IPOH: More than 2,000 football fans packed Ipoh City Hall Square early today to catch the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final clash between football giants Argentina and England on a giant screen.
The atmosphere erupted with cheers across the city centre as Argentina secured a 2-1 victory over England in a thrilling encounter, booking their place in the final of the prestigious tournament.


From early morning, crowds arrived with their families and friends, bringing along picnic mats and chairs to enjoy the match together in a relaxed atmosphere filled with sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Many fans were seen wearing their favourite team jerseys, while every goal was greeted with loud cheers and applause from supporters who filled the square.


The programme, organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI), was also attended by Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah.
Adding to the excitement, 15 lucky visitors walked away with attractive prizes through a lucky draw presented by Zamakhshari.


The giant screen screening not only provided football enthusiasts with an opportunity to enjoy a world-class match together but also served as a platform to strengthen community ties and foster unity among Ipoh residents.
“One City, One Spirit, One World Cup” reflected the vibrant atmosphere created at Ipoh City Hall Square throughout the exciting football spectacle.
