BATU GAJAH: Police are tracking down a man suspected of stealing money from donations and a necklace placed on a worship idol at the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple on Jalan Tanjong Tualang here on Saturday.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin, said the Batu Gajah District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a report regarding the incident at approximately 2.52 pm on July 18, 2026.
He said that upon receiving the report, a team of officers and personnel from the Batu Gajah IPD Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation.
According to him, police are currently recording statements from witnesses, obtaining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, and examining all relevant aspects to assist in the investigation.
“Efforts to locate and arrest the suspect are actively ongoing,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
He also advised the public not to engage in speculation that could interfere with the investigation or cause unnecessary concern among the community.
