IPOH: Thousands of football fans gathered at Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh early this morning to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 final on a giant screen, where Spain edged Argentina 1-0 to lift the title.
The viewing event, organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI), was also attended by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
In a statement, MBI said the event received an encouraging response, with members of the public attending alongside their families and friends to watch the highly anticipated final.
The council said the programme successfully brought together people from all walks of life in a harmonious and orderly atmosphere.
“The event not only gave the public an opportunity to watch the FIFA World Cup final together, but also strengthened community ties and fostered a spirit of unity.
“It also reflects MBI’s commitment to organising recreational and community activities that benefit city residents,” it said.
Spain were crowned FIFA World Cup 2026 champion after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final.
