IPOH – Appropriate assistance will be provided to the family of two 14-year-old female students who were found dead at the Sungai Pari Flats near Buntong.
Perak State Executive Councillor for Women Development, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Dato’ Salbiah Mohamed, said the immediate priority is to ensure that the welfare of the victims’ family continues to receive attention.
She said the Social Welfare Department (JKM) has visited the family’s home to assess their needs.
“We leave the investigation to the police and the relevant authorities.
“From the welfare perspective, JKM has visited the victims’ family to assess their needs.
“If necessary, JKM is always ready to provide support, including welfare assistance and counselling services,” she said when commenting on the incident.
In the incident on 24 July, the two female students were found dead after they were believed to have fallen from the upper floor of a vacant residential building at the Sungai Pari Flats.
The incident was discovered by a security guard conducting a routine patrol, who then alerted the authorities.
Meanwhile, Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin previously said that preliminary investigations found no evidence of third-party involvement in the case.
He added that investigations also revealed the two victims were believed to have left their school compound voluntarily before the incident.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
