Foreign Nationals Detained for Driving Without Licence, Expired Road Tax

By Zaki

IPOH – A foreign national’s bold attempt to drive a car without a valid road tax, insurance, or driving licence came to an end after he was detained by enforcement authorities.

More surprisingly, the vehicle he was driving had an expired road tax that had lapsed 14 years ago.

The Perak Road Transport Department (JPJ) Enforcement Division said the foreign driver was detained during an enforcement operation.

According to a statement, the operation was carried out to enhance road safety and reduce the risk of accidents involving vehicles that fail to comply with road traffic laws.

The vehicle was seized and taken to the JPJ Ipoh impound depot for further action.

In the same operation in Taiping, three cars driven by three foreign nationals were also detained after being found committing similar offences.

JPJ Perak said it will continue to intensify enforcement operations throughout the state to ensure compliance with road traffic laws by all road users.

Members of the public may report traffic-related offences via aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my or through the e-Aduan@JPJ application by providing complete details of the complaint.
