IPOH – An Islamic financial awareness programme is being planned for the Muslim community in Perak, particularly on matters related to digital finance.
In this regard, Perak will become the first state to implement the outreach programme involving surau, mosques and communities in rural areas.
Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) Perak State Director, Ramdani Abdul Karim, said the programme would be launched in the near future.

He said such outreach was important to strengthen Islamic understanding and build a knowledgeable society capable of facing current challenges.
“The rapid development of the times must always be guided by authentic knowledge so that society can address various new issues accurately.
“Changes in the digital financial landscape have also raised new questions that require an understanding of fiqh muamalah, enabling the community to make decisions based on Shariah guidance,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after attending the 2026 Perak State Fiqh Muamalah Forum at the Politeknik Ungku Omar campus in Ipoh here today.
Themed ‘Riba in the Era of Digital Finance: An Analysis of E-Wallets, BNPL and Credit Cards’, the seminar aimed to enhance public understanding of digital finance from a Shariah perspective.
The seminar featured prominent fiqh muamalah and Islamic finance scholar Dr Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman as the speaker, who discussed current financial issues based on Islamic scholarship and Shariah guidelines.
Elaborating, Ramdani said the use of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) facilities was also increasing and had become part of the spending patterns of the community.
He said the trend was not limited to younger generations but also involved people of various age groups, while potentially becoming a debt trap.
Therefore, he stressed that Muslims needed to have a good understanding of financial matters and fiqh muamalah before using any digital financial facility.
