Buntong First Merdeka Day Karate Carnival Enlivens National Day Celebrations

IPOH – The Shito Kai Ryu Ipoh Karate Club, under the leadership of Master R. Arunajalan, brought the spirit of patriotism to life by organising the Buntong First Merdeka Day Karate Carnival.

The programme was held to foster the spirit of independence among the younger generation through a variety of activities.

Interestingly, the event was not only attended by club members but also received participation and support from parents and the local community.

Activities organised included a Merdeka-themed colouring competition, kabaddi, balloon games and a musical chair competition.

A karate demonstration was also held to introduce the martial art to participants and parents who attended the event.

The carnival became even livelier with parents joining the musical chair competition.

Trophies and medals were presented to the winners in recognition of their participation and achievements.

Earlier, the event was officiated by P. Uvarajan, Chairman of the Kinta Indian Welfare, Social, Sports and Cultural Association.

In his speech, he praised the club’s initiative in organising the carnival to ensure that the younger generation continues to remember and appreciate the country’s independence.

He also said that involving children in martial arts such as karate could help develop discipline, self-confidence and better character.
