IPOH – The success of the Perak karate squad at the 2026 Selangor SUKMA Games proves that the state is not short of talented athletes.
The achievement must be sustained and further developed to achieve greater success on the international stage.
PKR Tambun Branch Deputy Chief Kalaimughilan Arjunan said Perak had previously produced many successful karate athletes who brought honour to the state and country at the international level.
He said the state’s glorious karate legacy must be revived by nurturing more promising athletes in the future.
“Patrick Jayaraj’s success proves that young people in Perak can achieve excellence when given the necessary support and opportunities.
“Patrick is a source of pride for Perak, and his success should inspire more young people to excel in sports,” he said.
He made the remarks during a visit to the home of the talented young athlete at RPT Desa Rishah, Buntong, here.
Kalaimughilan also presented a small token of appreciation to Patrick as a gesture of support for his achievement, which brought pride to Perak.
Patrick achieved success after winning the gold medal in the Men’s Under-60kg Kumite event.
At the 2026 Selangor SUKMA Games, the Perak karate team won two gold, one silver and five bronze medals.
The achievement demonstrates that the Perak karate team continues to deliver an impressive performance and has the potential to restore the glory of karate in the state on a higher stage.
