BCSB Brings Recycling Full Circle With Visit To Rainbow Children’s Home

By KT Leong

Buildcon Concrete Sdn. Bhd. (BCSB) extended the social impact of its environmental efforts through a community support visit to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Pelangi Perak (Rainbow Children’s Home) on 3 September.

The visit followed BCSB’s earlier recycling collaboration with Majlis Daerah Batu Gajah (MDBG). Under that programme, daily necessities received through a recycling exchange initiative were set aside and later channelled to the home, giving discarded materials a renewed purpose while meeting real community needs.

Staff contributions further funded the purchase of daily necessities for the home. BCSB representatives also personally supplemented the donation with additional essential items, including sanitary products, shampoo, body wash and other household necessities to ensure the contribution was as useful as possible to the residents.

Mr. Jeff Lee, Assistant General Manager, together with Admin Executives Ms. Tan Fong Sing and Ms. Jasvini, visited the home to present the items and spend time with residents and representatives. The engagement gave BCSB a clearer understanding of the home’s ongoing needs.

The activity reflects BCSB’s wider Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments. On the social front, it encouraged staff giving, employee volunteerism and direct assistance to a local children’s home. Environmentally, it extended the value of recycled materials by directing the resulting necessities towards community needs.

A key message from YTL Communications is that “This activity demonstrates a ‘recycle-to-community’ approach, where environmental action is linked to tangible social benefit,”

BCSB is part of YTL Cement and the wider BUILDS group.
