IPOH: More than 100 senior citizens received food packs under the Malaysia Day Caring Contribution Programme organised by Ipoh City Watch in collaboration with the Ipoh Barat MP’s Office and Lions Club of Perak Silver, here today.
Besides receiving the contributions, the participants were also treated to lunch and took part in patriotic song sessions while waving the Jalur Gemilang to commemorate the 63rd Malaysia Day.
The programme was also attended by Deputy Minister of Law and Institutional Reform and Ipoh Barat MP YB Kula, Ipoh City Watch chairman Dr Richard Ng, as well as members of the Lions Club of Perak Silver.
At the event, Kula also presented a laptop to a medical student from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
He also handed over contributions to members of the Orang Asli community who attended the programme.
In his speech, Richard said the contributions were not only aimed at assisting senior citizens but also formed part of efforts to foster the spirit of Malaysia Day among the community.
“Recipients were also reminded to fly the Jalur Gemilang as a sign of gratitude for living in a peaceful, united and harmonious multiracial country.
“The spirit of unity and harmony among the various communities must continue to be preserved for the well-being of the country,” he said.
