Malaysian social enterprise and senior safety technology platform ResQliv24 celebrated its first anniversary on 9 September, announcing two major initiatives for its second year; the introduction of the Alicia AI Caregiver, designed to become a companion and personal assistant for seniors, and the Program Warga Emas Selamat, which provides a 50% monthly subsidy for eligible seniors.
Under the subsidy programme, eligible Malaysian seniors who are 65 years old and above, have a monthly income below RM2,000 and can provide a supporting letter from a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) can receive a 50% subsidy on the monthly fee. Meaning they can receive ResQliv24 protection for just RM500 as a one-off device fee and only RM30 as subscription fee, equivalent to just RM1 a day.
Meanwhile, Alicia is an AI Caregiver which can act as both an assistant and even a companion for the senior. It is able to provide reminders and perform tasks such as calling the senior’s children. Or simply chat with the senior.
Additionally, ResQliv24 also gave back to the elder community, through the distribution of 7 ResQFons and 12 care packages for senior residents of Waller Court.
In addition, there were health screening services which included Bone Density Screening conducted by Quill Ipoh Orthopaedic Hospital, as well as InBody Body Composition Analysis by Vivien Wong and her team from People Signature Group. The InBody assessment covered body composition indicators such as BMI, body fat, skeletal muscle mass and visceral fat, together with blood pressure measurement.
The idea behind ResQliv24 began with one very simple question, which was “If our parents fall when they are home alone, will anybody know?”
This led to the development of ResQliv24 with a mission to use technology to protect seniors living alone and help prevent lonely deaths.
They have set a long term target to protect 10,000 seniors by 2030.
