LUMUT – Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Day Carnival, which opened today, is expected to attract up to 200,000 visitors.
The two-day event at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Base in Lumut also serves as a platform to highlight the MAF’s transformation efforts through the launch of various initiatives and strategic documents.
As early as 6 a.m., the entrance to the RMN Base in Lumut was congested with hundreds of vehicles as visitors made their way into the base.
However, security and traffic control measures by the RMN ensured that traffic flow remained smooth.
At the same time, transit buses were provided to transport visitors from designated waiting points around Manjung and Lumut.
The carnival, held on Saturday and Sunday, also gives the public an opportunity to get a closer look at the MAF through asset exhibitions, capability demonstrations and various interactive activities.
Various assets from all three MAF services are on display, including land combat assets, tactical vehicles, RMN ships, aircraft, unmanned systems and medical support assets.
Visitors can also witness special forces demonstrations, maritime demonstrations, Open Ship activities, boat rides and various performances.
The first day will also feature a Sunset Ceremony and performances by the MAF Arts and Cultural Corps, while the second day will focus on more interactive and family-friendly activities.
The hosting of the event at the RMN Base in Lumut further strengthens the MAF’s efforts to engage with the community, in line with the aspiration of “MAF Together with the Community, Like the Bamboo and the Riverbank.”
The 93rd MAF Day celebration not only commemorates 93 years of MAF service, but also serves as a platform to showcase the continuity of its legacy, resilience and organisational transformation.
Earlier, the MAF Day Carnival was officially opened by Defence Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
