The Neurology Unit from Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB), Ipoh, will host a World Stroke Day event on 25 October at Dataran Bandaraya, Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI). Scheduled from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, the event aims to increase public awareness regarding stroke prevention, immediate treatment, and rehabilitation strategies.
The initiative focuses on practical health education and community outreach. Attendees will have access to complimentary health screenings provided by medical staff and doctors from HRPB’s Medical Department. These screenings include blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments.
In addition to health checks, the event will feature a session by a designated “Stroke Champion,” who will speak on the critical importance of early recognition using the FAST protocol (Face, Arms, Speech, Time). Medical personnel will also offer guidance on proper medication adherence and demonstrate practical rehabilitation exercises designed for stroke recovery.
Following the morning event, HRPB will mark World Stroke Day with a special illumination ceremony at the hospital premises on 29 October. Members of the public are invited to attend the Dataran Bandaraya event to access these clinical resources and educational sessions.
