Dusit Princess Hotel Opens in Ipoh with Stays from RM230

By Anne Das

Dusit Princess Ipoh officially opened on October 1, bringing Thai-inspired hospitality to the established hotel on Jalan Raja Dihilir, formerly Travelodge Ipoh. The property is celebrating its new identity with stays from RM230 per night, giving residents an invitation to plan a break close to home.

Owned by Plenitude Berhad, the 268-room, four-star hotel becomes the third Dusit-branded property in Malaysia, joining Dusit Princess Melaka and ASAI Gamuda Cove in Selangor.

It is part of Dusit International, one of Thailand’s leading hotel and property development companies, established in 1949. Its hotel portfolio spans close to 300 properties across 19 countries, bringing an established international hospitality name to Ipoh.

Guests gather over refreshments to celebrate Dusit Princess Ipoh’s opening.

For Ipoh residents, its arrival offers a fresh reason to explore a familiar address. Whether for a family staycation, somewhere to accommodate visiting relatives or a celebration with friends, the hotel brings the Dusit Princess brand to the city’s accommodation and dining choices.

Madam Elsie Chua, Chairman of Plenitude Berhad, described the opening as “a new chapter for this established property and for Plenitude’s hospitality portfolio.”

She said the hotel would combine Thai-inspired hospitality with the character, culture and local flavours that make Ipoh distinctive. The intention is to help guests experience the city while enjoying the standards associated with an international brand.

Plenitude Berhad Chairman Madam Elsie Chua and Dusit International Group CEO Chanin Donavanik celebrate the opening of Dusit Princess Ipoh.

Chanin Donavanik, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dusit International, pointed to Ipoh’s established visitor appeal and connections with Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. He said the partnership would build on the property’s strengths while helping guests connect with the destination.

For locals, that experience can begin with a small overnight bag. A staycation offers a change of surroundings without the long drive, leaving time for a swim, a leisurely breakfast and a night away from household routines.

Rooms feature warm contemporary interiors and practical comforts for a relaxing stay

Rooms overlook the Perak Turf Club or city skyline. Five accommodation categories range from Superior Rooms to Family Suites, offering choices for couples, families and guests planning longer visits.

Family Rooms and Family Suites include kitchenettes, useful for parents with young children or relatives staying for several days. Self-service laundry, accessible rooms and a prayer room add practical convenience.

An outdoor swimming pool and Kids Club give families options within the hotel. Guests also have access to a fitness centre with extended opening hours, allowing early risers and evening exercisers to work around their schedules.

Natural light, soaring open space and bold red seating greet guests inside Dusit Princess Ipoh

Dining centres on The Atrium, the naturally lit restaurant with views of Ipoh’s limestone hills and cityscape. Its menu includes Thai-inspired dishes alongside local and international favourites.

The lobby coffee shop serves specialty teas, coffees, juices, pastries and desserts. Residents curious about the hotel can start with a catch-up over refreshments before deciding to make a weekend of it.

The hotel also has a ballroom and smaller function rooms for weddings, celebrations and business gatherings.

Guests share a table and conversation during the opening celebrations.

Beyond its doors, the hotel’s Discover the Soul of Ipoh programme brings together locally led experiences spanning heritage, food, nature and family activities.

These include photography walks through historic streets, visits to Tambun pomelo orchards and limestone cave temples, and food trails featuring white coffee and traditional desserts.

Labu Sayong pottery workshops, family cooking classes and evening wildlife adventures are also available.

A warm Ipoh welcome for Dusit Princess, as local guests gather with General Manager Cheryl Lum and Dusit International Group CEO Chanin Donavanik.

For residents hosting friends from elsewhere, these experiences offer ways to introduce Perak beyond the usual sightseeing stops. Locals may find a reason to rediscover places they regularly recommend to visitors.

The opening promotion offers stays from RM230 per room per night, including RM50 in daily food and beverage credit, for stays from October 1 to December 31, 2026. Terms and conditions apply.
