IPOH: All schools and educational institutions under the Kinta Utara, Kinta Selatan and Kuala Kangsar District Education Offices (PPD) have been ordered to close with immediate effect following an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 180 on Friday.
Perak Education Department director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar said schools must implement Home-Based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) to ensure students’ education continues throughout the closure.

“The API reading at the CA11A-Tasek Ipoh monitoring station stood at 180 as of 11 am on Oct 9.
“All schools and educational institutions under the Kinta Utara, Kinta Selatan and Kuala Kangsar PPDs are to remain closed for the stipulated period.
“Teachers and members of the Support Staff Group (AKP) are required to work from home throughout the closure, subject to current instructions and operational requirements.
“Parents and guardians are advised to follow updates and official announcements from the Perak Education Department, particularly regarding the reopening dates for schools and educational institutions,” he said in a statement on Friday.
He also advised parents and guardians against making assumptions about when schools would reopen, urging them to refer only to official announcements issued by the Perak Education Department.
The district education offices concerned have been asked to ensure the notice reaches all schools, educational institutions, teachers, support staff, parents, guardians and students in their respective districts.
Zulkafli added that schools must monitor the prevailing situation and prioritise the safety, health and welfare of students and the education community.
