IPOH: Another tree-falling incident crushed shop lots at Kinta Riverwalk early Saturday morning, prompting local traders to urge the relevant authorities to immediately prune high-risk branches.

Previously, Kinta Riverwalk was hit by a storm in July that uprooted numerous trees and damaged several shop units.
A local trader stated that the tree suddenly fell at around 3:00 a.m. yesterday, posing a grave danger to pedestrians and visitors who frequent the area.
“I appeal to the authorities to trim or tidy up the tree branches hanging over the pedestrian walkways and shops to prevent broken branches from falling onto premises and visitors at Kinta Riverwalk.

“Branch-snapping incidents have occurred several times recently due to strong winds, particularly along the pedestrian sections of Kinta Riverwalk.
“We cannot predict when this will happen, and yesterday a tree and branches suddenly fell onto a shop even though there was no rain or wind. Fortunately, no one was there at the time.

“Too many shops have suffered from fallen trees, and we hope the authorities will take decisive action to immediately inspect large, aged, and high-risk trees and branches here.
“Many are already rotting and pose a severe hazard to public safety; we do not want a worse tragedy to occur, especially one involving human lives,” the trader added.
